The Hilton Head Choral Society was founded in 1975, to perform Handel’s Messiah.  Since that time the repertoire and membership have been expanded to include major classical and contemporary works and seasonal favorites. The Hilton Head Choral Society (HHCS) is an open membership to community members who love to sing and enjoy good fellowship.

An orchestra of professional musicians and professional soloists are included in our concerts, as the music of the masters requires. A concert may total over 200 instrumentalists and singers! On September 14, 2018 at 8PM, HHCS will kick off its 43rd season.

The HHCS’s one hundred voice ensemble presents four major programs per season – A Fall Pops Concert, A Christmas Concert, a Masterworks or Classics Concert, and a Memorial Day concert honoring America and our Armed Forces with American Music.

HHCS rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 PM beginning early July through Memorial Day. Rehearsal site is The Cypress Clubhouse, 20 Ladyslipper Lane, Hilton Head Plantation. Choral Society Concerts are held at the First Presbyterian Church on William Hilton Parkway and Holy Family Catholic Church on Pope Avenue.

The HHCS is a non-profit organization. Dues are charged to partially cover musical expenses. Our primary sources of financial support come from concert ticket sales, member dues, patrons, donors, sponsors, and grants. The HHCS is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

We are a member of Chorus America, a national organization promoting the art of choral singing.
