The Hilton Head Choral Society was founded in 1975, to perform Handel’s Messiah. The repertoire and membership have been expanded to include major classical and contemporary works and seasonal favorites. The Society is an open membership to community members who love to sing and enjoy good fellowship.
An orchestra of professional musicians and professional soloists are included in our concerts, as the music of the masters requires. A concert may total over 200 instrumentalists and singers!
The one hundred voice ensemble presents four major programs per season – A Fall Pops Concert, A Christmas Concert, a Masterworks or Classics Concert, and a Memorial Day concert honoring America and our Armed Forces with American Music.
Choral Society Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 PM beginning early July through Memorial Day. Rehearsal site is All Saints Episcopal Church, 3001 Meeting Street. Choral Society Concerts are held at the First Presbyterian Church on William Hilton Parkway and Holy Family Catholic Church on Pope Avenue.
The Choral Society is a non-profit organization. Dues are charged to partially cover musical expenses. The primary sources of financial support come from concert ticket sales, member dues, patrons, donors, sponsors, and grants.
The Hilton Head Choral Society is a member of Chorus America, a national organization promoting the art of choral singing.
