Get ready for the SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS! by the Hilton Head Choral Society. The concert follows two successful performances in one month.

It’s known as “the most wonderful time of the year” and the Hilton Head Choral Society’s (HHCS) is gearing up for its SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS! concert Friday, December 15, 8PM at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island. This joyful holiday treat features Carols Galore, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Christmas Movie Soundtracks.

The SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS! concert is the first HHCS event since the tremendously successful presentation of the Vienna Boys Choir (VBC) October 24. Performing to a “full house” audience of more than 1,000 attendees representing Beaufort County as well as 25 other states and countries, the VBC engaged the audience with their pure voices, character, spirit, and humor.

VBC Conductor and Pianist Manolo Cagnin, an Italian dynamo, led the group of talented singers from countries from all over the world, including Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, China, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The boys sang quite a variety of music, from Gregorian Chant to Orff, Rossini, Verdi, and Strauss as well as more recent works, including Ennio Morricone.

Barely three weeks prior to the VBC event, the HHCS kicked off its season with the highly anticipated SOUNDS OF CINEMA! concert. The concert, which was originally scheduled for September and postponed to October 6 due to Hurricane Irma, received rave reviews. Thanks to the generosity of many supporters attending the SOUNDS OF CINEMA! concert, the HHCS collected approximately $1,000 in cash and product donations to the present to the Hilton Head Humane Association.

ABOUT THE HHCS: The Hilton Head Choral Society (HHCS) is the longest running performing arts organization on Hilton Head Island and is an open membership organization to all who enjoy choral singing and fellowship. Now in its 42nd year, the HHCS’s extensive repertoire includes major classical and contemporary works as well as seasonal favorites, from opera to Broadway, classical masterworks to Pops, and commissioned works by world-class composers. In addition to the regular concert season, the HHCS frequently showcases internationally renowned vocal ensembles as part of the `HHCS Presents` series. The Hilton Head Choral Society is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
