About Us

The Hilton Head Choral Society was founded in 1975 to perform Handel’s “Messiah” and is the longest running performing arts organization on Hilton Head Island.
An orchestra of professional instrumentalists as well as soloists are featured in our concerts. A concert may total over 125 musicians (instrumentalists and singers) for audiences up to 900 strong. Concert performances range from Opera to Broadway, Classical to Pops, as well as commissioned works by world-class composers. The 75+ voice ensemble presents up to four concerts per season, including a traditional holiday concert and a Memorial Day weekend concert celebrating America and honoring our Armed Forces with patriotic music.
The HHCS is also known for its community involvement, frequently partnering with Deep Well to provide holiday toys for children in the area and performing for the Town of Hilton Head’s Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
The Choral Society is a not-for-profit organization. Sources of financial support include ticket sales, membership dues, donors, program advertisers, concert sponsors, and grants from The South Carolina Arts Commission, Beaufort County Council, and the Town of Hilton Head. The HHCS is a member of Chorus America, a national organization promoting the art of choral singing.
