As the Hilton Head Choral Society proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary season, we are thrilled—and deeply grateful—to share some exciting news: both performances by the world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir are completely SOLD OUT, thanks to an overwhelming and enthusiastic response from the Lowcountry community.
On Monday, February 23 and Tuesday, February 24, 2026, music lovers will gather at Lowcountry Community Church in Bluffton for two unforgettable evenings featuring one of the most illustrious choral ensembles in the world. Each concert begins at 7 p.m., and every seat will be filled with listeners eager to experience the beauty, history, and joy of this extraordinary choir.
For more than six centuries, Vienna Boys Choir has captivated audiences across the globe with its purity of tone, distinctive charm, and remarkably diverse repertoire. Today’s Vienna Boys Choir is made up of four touring ensembles representing dozens of nations, performing more than 300 concerts each year worldwide. As the Fort Worth Star-Telegram so aptly put it, “There’s no more gratifying sound than that of children singing. And there’s no more polished ensemble of children’s voices than the Vienna Boys Choir.”
The program being presented in Bluffton, “Made in Austria,” is a vibrant and joyful celebration of the Choir’s musical roots and global reach. Anchored by beloved Austrian classics—including the irresistible charm of Strauss waltzes and polkas—the program also travels through lively folk traditions, contemporary favorites, and unexpected international treasures. The result is a globe-spanning musical journey delivered with the Choir’s trademark warmth, clarity, playfulness, and exuberance.
Vienna Boys Choir’s story stretches back to 1296, when boys first sang at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel. In 1498, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I formally established the Court Chapel, laying the foundation for what would become one of the world’s oldest and most famous choirs. Today, the Vienna Boys Choir is a private, non-profit organization with a comprehensive music-centered education program serving more than 330 students. Its educational mission – recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage—is open to all, regardless of origin, gender, nationality, or religion.
With nearly 90 active choristers, the Choir continues to share its artistry with nearly half a million listeners each year. Its legacy includes performances at the Salzburg Festival, appearances at the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert, weekly Mass at the Imperial Chapel, and collaborations with some of the world’s most celebrated conductors. Beyond the concert stage, Vienna Boys Choir is also committed to philanthropy, partnering with UNICEF and supporting music education outreach programs worldwide.
In recent years, Vienna Boys Choir marked its 525th anniversary, received the European Culture Award, and welcomed Erasmus Baumgartner as Artistic Director – further affirming its place as a global cultural treasure.
“Welcoming Vienna Boys Choir as part of our 50th anniversary season is an extraordinary honor for the Hilton Head Choral Society,” said Dr. Dustin C. Ousley, Artistic Director. “Their legacy of musical excellence aligns beautifully with our own commitment to choral artistry, and we are thrilled to share this rare and unforgettable experience with our community.”
While tickets are no longer available, the Hilton Head Choral Society extends its heartfelt thanks to the Lowcountry community for making these concerts a resounding success. Your support not only celebrates world-class music right here at home, but also helps us continue our mission as we look ahead to the next 50 years of choral excellence.
This special event is partially supported by the Town of Bluffton.
