If the past few years have taught us anything, it has to be FLEXIBILITY! The “For We Wish You Music” concert that was originally planned for April 1 had to be rescheduled due to Covid within the Choral Society. But another lesson that we have valuably learned throughout the pandemic is that a delayed celebration is no less special! (AND we are extremely grateful for the flexibility of our loyal patrons.)
The Hilton Head Choral Society is determined to carry on with the commemoration of the long history of the HHCS as the oldest performing arts organization in our community. Covid can’t take that honor away from us and we intend to celebrate it – no matter what! The concert will also include a look back at the last twenty years with our famed Artistic Director, Tim Reynolds. There’s no way that we would let a little thing like a change of date detract from honoring such a pivotal leader in the history of the HHCS. The 2021-22 season is the maestro’s final season and we look forward to reminiscing and celebrating our two decades together with him.
Tim has done so much to advance the level of performance for the HHCS. During his tenure, we have created countless memories – the Choral Society has enjoyed two European concert tours, hosted a choral festival with choirs from throughout the USA, commissioned new works by composers Randall Stroope, Georgia Stitt, and Craig Hella Johnson and expanded programming to include a Chamber Singers ensemble and the HHCS Youth Choir. That’s a lot of work that wouldn’t have been possible without the direction of our fearless leader.
And on May 13, we look forward to walking down memory lane with you! The repertoire for this concert will reflect the many milestones of the HHCS and includes music of Gershwin, Sondheim, Handel and much more. These festive selections, performed by the full chorus and orchestra, will make for an unforgettable evening…one that you definitely don’t want to miss!
Tickets sold for the original date will be honored. Additional tickets are still available for $15 – $40 and may be purchased online or at the door. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 843-341-3818, visit www.hiltonheadchoralsociety.org, or email tickets@hiltonheadchoralsociety.org.
