Now that the summer is coming to an end – are you looking for something fun to do on a Friday evening? Why not join the Hilton Head Choral Society to kick-off it’s 2019-2020 concert season with a pops concert, SEPTEMBER SONG, “Music for Family and Friends”? The concert features the 75 voice chorus with orchestra AND some special guests at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 24 Pope Ave., Hilton Head Island.

So grab a date or a group of friends or both – go out for an early dinner and then head on over to the concert. It will be an evening that moves “the music in us all.” And you’ll make it home in time for the evening news having enjoyed a “night on the town.“

The diverse repertoire of family-friendly songs that Tim Reynolds, Artistic Director for HHCS, has chosen for this concert will soothe your soul and lift your spirit. There is something for everyone from pop radio tunes to inspirational favorites, Broadway shows and everything in between.

Trust me, the whole audience will find something to sing along to with classics like “Climb Every Mountain,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “O What a Beautiful Morning.” It might be hard not to choke up or get nostalgic when you hear the chorus sing “What a Wonderful World.” And for the younger concertgoers (or just the young at heart), there’s a Mary Poppins Medley that includes music from both the old and new version of the movie!

But perhaps the most impressive performance of the night will be “The Whole World Is Singing” with text in more than ten languages. The audience will surely give that a standing ovation, right?!?

A special treat this year is local favorite, Lori Maurer, will be performing with the chorus. She’s always a crowd favorite with her incredibly gifted voice enriching the melodic sound of the HHCS singers.

In addition, the fifty voice 7th and 8th grade Garrison Voices chorus from the Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts in Savannah, directed by John Tisbert will be performing with the Choral Society and singing selections of their own. This new relationship exemplifies the multi-generational experience that the HHCS concerts represent. Grandparents can bring their kids and even grandkids to enjoy this one of kind vocal event – and everyone enjoys the evening!

Each concert of the 44th season promises to bring the passion and power of music to this year’s theme, “The Music in Us All.”
